* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall. * WHERE...The island of Oahu in Honolulu County. * WHEN...Until 800 AM HST. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 502 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over east Oahu, with additional showers to the southeast. The heaviest rain has been over the Koolau Mountains where rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Expect the showers upstream of Oahu to fill in over leeward sections through the morning hours. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Honolulu, Waipio, Mililani, Pearl City, Waikele, Wahiawa, Wheeler Field, Waipahu, Aiea, Kunia, Halawa, Waiahole, Waikane, Schofield Barracks, Salt Lake, Kahaluu, Moanalua, Ahuimanu, Iroquois Point and Ewa Beach.

The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County * Until 745 AM HST. * At 426 AM HST, radar and automated rain gauges continue to show a downward trend in heavy rain over the Puna and Kau District of the Big Island, with rain rates generally less than 1 inch per hour. However, emergency management officials continue to report multiple road closures across the warning area due to localized flash flooding. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Emergency management. IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads, properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road closures possible in some areas. Landslides are possible in steep terrain. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... ...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FOR MAUI AND THE BIG ISLAND THROUGH THIS AFTERNOON... * WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...The island of Maui in Maui County and The Big Island. * WHEN...Through this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Deep tropical moisture associated with a trough of low pressure will stall over the Kauai Channel today and dissipate by this evening. This combined with a passing disturbance aloft will maintain the threat for heavy rain, flash flooding, and the potential for a few thunderstorms, especially over windward portions of the Big Island and Maui.
