Although northerly winds will be around 5 to 10 mph on Thursday in Berkshire and Litchfield Counties, the very dry ground along with relative humidities during the afternoon ranging from 20 to 30 percent will again lead to elevated fire weather concerns. Outdoor burning is not recommended. Use caution when handling and disposing of ignition sources such as matches and cigarettes.

There is an increased risk of fire spread on Thursday. While winds will only be 5 to 10 mph out of the northeast, a dry ground and minimum relative humidity values of 25 to 30 percent will lead to elevated fire weather concerns. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery or matches, and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose cigarette butts.

* WHAT...One to two feet of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...In Connecticut, Southern Fairfield County. In New York, Southern Westchester, Bronx, Northwest Suffolk, Northern Queens and Northern Nassau Counties. * WHEN...From 7 AM to noon EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding in the more vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Some roads and low lying properties including parking lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience minor flooding. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Minor coastal flooding is also likely with the morning high tide cycle on Friday, and may also be possible on Saturday.
