The National Weather Service in Great Falls has issued a Fire Weather Watch for gusty winds and low relative humidity, which is in effect from Monday afternoon through Monday evening. * AFFECTED AREA...Eastern Glacier/Toole/Central/Eastern Pondera/Liberty. * WINDS...West 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. * RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 17 percent. * IMPACTS...The combination of low humidity, unseasonably warm temperatures and gusty winds may result in critical fire weather conditions, increasing the risk for new and existing fires to spread quickly.

Air Quality Alert

Air Quality Alert issued September 7 at 8:15AM MDT by NWS Great Falls MT

AQAMT The Montana Department of Environmental Quality has issued an air quality alert for Beaverhead, Deer Lodge, Granite, Ravalli, and Silver Bow counties in effect until 8AM 9/8/2024 elevated particulate levels from wildfire smoke This alert will be updated again at 800am 9/8/2024. An Air Quality Alert means that particulates have been trending upwards and that an exceedence of the 24 hour National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS) has occurred or may occur in the near future. As of 8AM, Particulate levels in Hamilton are Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups As of 8AM, Particulate levels in Butte, Dillon are Moderate When air quality is Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups... State and local health officials recommend that people with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children should limit prolonged exertion. When air quality is Moderate...
