High Surf Advisory

High Surf Advisory issued November 17 at 3:00AM HST until November 18 at 6:00AM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

...HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF KAUAI OAHU MOLOKAI MAUI AND BIG ISLAND UNTIL 6 AM HST MONDAY... ...COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT IN EFFECT FOR ALL HAWAIIAN ISLANDS THROUGH MONDAY MORNING... .Large surf along east facing shores will continue to remain rough and choppy in response to strong trade winds over and upstream of the Hawaiian Islands. Peak monthly tides, in tandem with higher east shore water levels, will produce minor coastal flooding typical in more vulnerable, low lying areas during the pre-dawn high tides. * WHAT...For the High Surf Advisory, 8 to 12 foot surf. For the Coastal Flood Statement, a combination of high east surf and elevated water levels that could produce nuisance coastal flooding. * WHERE...Eastern exposures and low lying coastal areas in Kauai, Maui, Molokai, Oahu and Big Island. * WHEN...For the High Surf Advisory, until 6 AM HST Monday. For the Coastal Flood Statement, through Monday morning high tide. * IMPACTS...Flooding of beaches that are normally dry, minor coastal erosion, and saltwater inundation. Moderate. Strong breaking waves and strong currents will make swimming dangerous.

Wind Advisory issued November 17 at 2:42AM HST until November 17 at 6:00PM HST by NWS Honolulu HI

* WHAT...East winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * WHERE...Portions of Molokai, Lanai, Maui, Kahoolawe, and the Big Island. * WHEN...Until 6 PM HST this evening. * IMPACTS...Winds this strong can tear off shingles, knock down tree branches, blow away tents and awnings and make it difficult to steer, especially for drivers of high profile vehicles and those pulling trailers.
