Special Weather Statement
Special Weather Statement issued November 12 at 6:25PM EST by NWS Upton NY
For tonight, north to northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts 20 to 25 mph will diminish to under 10 mph, with gusts ending by late tonight. Relative humidity will be increasing to 60 to 70 percent. An increased risk of fire spread will develop on Wednesday. North winds will be around 10 mph with gusts in the morning 15 to 20 mph, and diminishing and ending during the afternoon. Along with dry fuels and low relative humidity values as low as 25 to 30 percent will support the spread of any fires that ignite. Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery or matches, and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose cigarette butts.

Special Weather Statement issued November 12 at 6:12PM EST by NWS Albany NY
The combination of prolonged dry weather, north to northwest winds gusting between 10 to 20 mph, relative humidity values ranging between 25 and 35 percent, and dry fuels will contribute to an elevated risk of fire spread on Wednesday for portions of eastern New York, including the eastern Catskills, Capital District, Mid-Hudson Valley, and the Taconics. There is a statewide burn ban in effect through the rest of November. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery or matches, and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose cigarette butts. Please refer to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation web site for information on burn restrictions.
