Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Hazardous crosswinds will be possible on Highway 95 between Indian Springs and the intersection with State Route 160.

Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. The central and eastern portions of the Las Vegas Valley will likely experience peak gusts between 30 and 40 MPH * WHERE...Las Vegas Valley, strongest across the far western portions of the valley. * WHEN...From 1 AM Saturday to 4 AM PST Sunday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Areas of blowing dust may result in locally reduced visibility. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Downslope winds in the far western Las Vegas Valley can create sudden gusts which can result in particularly hazardous crosswinds for high profile vehicles.

The Sierra Avalanche Center in Truckee has issued a BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WATCH for the following areas: NWS Reno NV - NVZ002 (Greater Lake Tahoe)...CAZ072 (Greater Lake Tahoe (CA)) * WHAT...HIGH avalanche danger is expected to occur in the backcountry Friday night and may continue through Saturday. * WHERE...Central Sierra Nevada Mountains between Yuba Pass (Hwy 49) on the north and Ebbetts Pass (Hwy 4) on the south, including the greater Lake Tahoe area. This does not include ski areas and highways where avalanche mitigation programs exist. * WHEN...In effect from Fri 09:00 AM PST to Sat 06:00 AM PST. * IMPACTS...A powerful storm with large amounts of new snow, rain, and strong winds may cause widespread avalanche activity in the mountains. Avalanches large enough to bury people or knock down large trees could occur in backcountry areas. * PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Very dangerous avalanche conditions may occur Friday night and Saturday. The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and low humidity, which is in effect until 7 PM PST this evening. * Affected Area...Fire Weather Zone 274 Southern Mono County, Fire Weather Zone 421 Southern Sierra Front including Alpine, Northern Mono, Southern Lyon, and Western Mineral Counties and Fire Weather Zone 429 Lahontan Basin including Churchill and Eastern Mineral Counties. * Winds...South to southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. Wind prone areas may reach gusts of 80 mph. * Humidity...As low as 12 to 18 percent. * Duration...3 to 9 hours of critical conditions. * Impacts...The combination of gusty winds and low humidity can cause fire to rapidly grow in size and intensity before first responders can contain them.

Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. Ridge wind gusts will reach up to 125 mph. For the Winter Storm Watch Sunday-Tuesday: Heavy snow with 3-8 inches below 7000 feet and 1 to 3 feet above 7000 feet. * WHERE...Greater Lake Tahoe Area, and Lassen-Eastern Plumas-Eastern Sierra Counties. * WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 10 AM this morning to 10 PM PST Saturday.
