Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Russian River at Johnsons Beach at Guerneville. * WHEN...Until early Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...At 35.0 feet, Moderate flooding is forecast along the lower Russian River. Numerous businesses and residences in the lowest sections of towns within the reach are expected to flood. In Guerneville Brookside Resort begins to flood. More extensive flooding occurs at Parkers Resort. In Northwood lower Redwood Drive floods. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 PM PST Friday the stage was 32.9 feet. - Bankfull stage is 32.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:00 PM PST Friday was 32.9 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 34.9 feet late tonight. Water over roadways. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 531 PM PST, Heavy precipitation has occurred over the past few days. Rain and snowmelt is occurring, and will continue to cause minor flooding of urban areas and small streams. Overflowing poor drainage areas will also cause minor flooding in the advisory area. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected tonight into Saturday. * WHAT...Southwest winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph. * WHERE...The city of San Francisco, the East Bay and Santa Clara Hills, Santa Cruz Mountains and San Mateo, the Gabilan Range, the Santa Lucia Range, southern Monterey Bay, and coastal Big Sur. * WHEN...Until 10 AM PST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. The combination of wind and moist soils will increase the risk for downed trees. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A narrow frontal rain band will move through the Bay Area and Central Coast today which will result in gusty south winds ahead of and during its passage. Winds will start to ease overnight after the frontal rain band has progressed out of the region.

Total snow accumulations of 1 to 4 feet and up to 5 feet along higher peaks. * WHERE...West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada and Western Plumas County/Lassen Park Counties. * WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 4 PM PST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Snow-covered roads, chain controls and travel delays are likely which will result in very difficult travel at times above 5500 feet. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snow levels this afternoon will be high from 6000-7000 feet, then quickly lowering to around 5000 feet Saturday morning. AVAREV The following message is transmitted at the request of the U.S. Forest Service Sierra Avalanche Center. The Sierra Avalanche Center in Truckee has issued a BACKCOUNTRY AVALANCHE WATCH for the following areas: NWS Reno NV - NVZ002 (Greater Lake Tahoe)...CAZ072 (Greater Lake Tahoe (CA)) * WHAT...HIGH avalanche danger is expected to occur in the backcountry Friday night and may continue through Saturday. * WHERE...Central Sierra Nevada Mountains between Yuba Pass (Hwy 49) on the north and Ebbetts Pass (Hwy 4) on the south, including the greater Lake Tahoe area. This does not include ski areas and highways where avalanche mitigation programs exist. * WHEN...In effect from Fri 09:00 AM PST to Sat 06:00 AM PST. * IMPACTS...A powerful storm with large amounts of new snow, rain, and strong winds may cause widespread avalanche activity in the mountains. Avalanches large enough to bury people or knock down large trees could occur in backcountry areas. * PRECAUTIONARY / PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...Very dangerous avalanche conditions may occur Friday night and Saturday. * WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning Today: Heavy snow for Mono County above 7000 feet. Snow accumulations of 10 to 18 inches with isolated amounts up to 2 feet. Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. Ridge wind gusts will reach up to 125 mph. For the Winter Storm Watch Sunday-Tuesday: Heavy snow with 4 to 8 inches below 7000 feet. 1 to 3 feet possible above 7000 feet. * WHERE...Mono County. * WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, from 4 PM this afternoon to 10 PM PST Saturday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from late Sunday night through Tuesday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible.
