* WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations mainly of 1 to 2 inches in lower elevations, and 2 to 4 inches on ridgetops, with a few isolated ridgetop locations seeing 4 to 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph. * WHERE...Avery, Madison, Mitchell, and Yancey Counties. * WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 7 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...The snow will create snow covered roads and produce scattered power outages. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
