Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement issued November 7 at 3:14PM EST by NWS Albany NY

The combination of recent dry weather, northwest winds gusting 25 to 35 mph, minimum relative humidity values between 30 and 50 percent, and dry fuels will contribute to an elevated risk of fire spread Friday for portions of eastern New York, including the eastern Catskills, Capital District, Mid-Hudson Valley, and the Taconics. Any outdoor burning is strongly discouraged. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery or matches, and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose cigarette butts. Please refer to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation web site for information on burn restrictions.
