* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of southeast New Mexico, including the following county, central Chaves. * WHEN...Until 1215 PM MDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1108 AM MDT, local law enforcement has reported numerous road closures in an area extending from Roswell southward to Lake Arthur, including on State Highway 380 to Bottomless Lakes State Park and State Road 2 between Hagerman and Lake Arthur. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Trained spotters reported flash flooding on East 18th Street in Portales. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - A band of slowing moving thunderstorms is expected to develop tonight as a weather system approaches the region with additional rounds of thunderstorms possible through Saturday morning. With multiple rounds of thunderstorms possible, a few area may receive torrential rainfall resulting in flash flooding.
