This is done to help with preparing for severe weather that may overlap or be heading towards Brevard.

Patchy dense fog has developed across the area from Gaffney and Union to Chester, Rock Hill, Gastonia, and the southwest side of metro Charlotte. Visiblity can suddenly be reduced to under one- quarter mile when encountering a fog bank, causing hazardous driving conditions. Motorists traveling in the area this morning are urged to slow down, leave plenty of space between vehicles, and use low-beam headlights in fog. The fog should lift by 9 am.

* WHAT...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level in low- lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Coastal Pender, Coastal New Hanover and Coastal Brunswick Counties. * WHEN...Until 9 AM EST this morning. * IMPACTS...Low-lying roads and locations along the Intracoastal Waterway and adjacent tidal creeks may observe minor coastal flooding. * WHAT...Up to one foot of inundation above ground level expected in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...The lower Cape Fear River including downtown Wilmington. * WHEN...Until noon EST today. * IMPACTS...Portions of Battleship Road and USS North Carolina Road observe minor coastal flooding up to one foot in depth. In downtown Wilmington, sections of Water Street observe minor flooding up to one half foot in depth. Severe flooding will extend inland from the waterfront causing potential flooding of some homes and businesses. In some areas, battering waves could cause additional damage to property. Some roads may be impassable under several feet of water and vehicles submerged.
