The combination of prolong dry weather, northwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph at times, minimum relative humidities from 35 to 50 percent combined with dry fallen leaves, will contribute to elevated fire weather concerns Monday across Litchfield County, Connecticut. Obey fire bans, keep vehicles off dry grass and use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources.

* WHAT...Up to around one foot of inundation above ground level expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline. * WHERE...Southern Fairfield County. * WHEN...From 10 AM to 3 PM EST Monday. * IMPACTS...Minor flooding is expected in the most vulnerable locations near the waterfront and shoreline. Expect up to around 1 foot of inundation above ground level in low lying, vulnerable areas. Some roads and low lying property including parking lots, parks, lawns and homes/businesses with basements near the waterfront will experience shallow flooding.

There is an elevated risk of fire spread Monday. NW winds Monday morning around 10 mph with gusts near 15 to 20 mph will increase to near 10 to 15 mph by Monday afternoon with gusts around 20 to 25 mph. Minimum relative humidity is forecast to range between 35 and 50 percent Monday. Burning is strongly discouraged. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery or matches, and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose cigarette butts.
