* WHAT...Northwest winds 15 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected. * WHERE...In Virginia, Central Virginia Blue Ridge and Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, and Eastern Highland and Western Highland Counties. In West Virginia, Eastern Pendleton and Western Pendleton Counties. * WHEN...From noon Friday to 6 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Winter Storm Warning

Winter Storm Warning issued November 21 at 9:54PM EST until November 23 at 6:00AM EST by NWS Baltimore MD/Washington DC

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches, with locally 1 to 2 feet along the ridgetops. Winds may gust as high as 50 mph Friday afternoon into Friday night. * WHERE...In Virginia, Western Highland County. In West Virginia, Western Grant and Western Pendleton Counties. * WHEN...Until 6 AM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the commutes through Friday evening. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Near blizzard conditions are possible Friday. Snow may transition to a period of freezing rain or drizzle Friday night into Saturday morning.
