* WHAT...West winds 30 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * WHERE...Estancia Valley. * WHEN...Until 4 PM MST this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs may be blown down. Expect strong crosswinds on area roadways. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Light snow will develop late tonight with accumulations of a dusting to around 1 inch possible. This may create a period of slick travel for Thanksgiving morning travel.

Special Weather Statement

Special Weather Statement issued November 27 at 7:46AM MST by NWS Albuquerque NM

A weather system moving south into northern New Mexico today will produce an area of light snow over parts of the area late tonight through Thanksgiving morning. Snowfall accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the area from around Las Vegas to Santa Fe, Clines Corners, Moriarty, and the Sandia Mountains. This may lead to a period of slick travel on Thanksgiving morning for portions of Interstate 25, U.S. Highway 285, and Interstate 40. A second area of light snow may also impact the Continental Divide portion of Interstate 40 over western NM. Folks planning travel in these areas late tonight through Thursday morning should be prepared for winter travel conditions and allow extra time to reach your destination.

* WHAT...Snow expected. Up to 5 inches of additional snow accumulation expected above 8500 feet. West wind gusts up to 40 mph in the morning. * WHERE...Tusas Mountains Including Chama. * WHEN...Until 5 PM MST this afternoon. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Some roads may be closed, including Highway 64. Significant travel delays are possible. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of blowing snow in the morning may reduce visibility below one mile. Snow drifts nearly 2 feet deep possible on Highway 64 over the mountains.

* WHAT...West winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph expected. * WHERE...Guadalupe Mountains of west Texas and Southeast New Mexico. * WHEN...Until 8 PM MST /9 PM CST/ Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles like campers, vans, and tractor trailers. Severe turbulence near the mountains will be hazardous for low flying light aircraft.
