Special Weather Statement issued November 15 at 6:12PM EST by NWS Burlington VT

The combination of prolonged dry weather, northwesterly winds up to 20 mph with locally higher gusts, relative humidity values between 25 and 35 percent, and dry fuels will contribute to the potential for rapid fire spread that may start for portions of eastern New York, including the western Champlain Valley, as well as areas from the Green Mountains eastwards. An emergency statewide burn ban is in effect until November 30th for New York. No burn permits will be issued at this time. Use extra caution if handling any potential ignition sources, such as machinery or matches, and ensure to properly extinguish or dispose cigarette butts. Across Vermont, burn bans remain in effect across Rutland, Windsor, Bennington, and Windham Counties. Consult with local or state fire or forestry officials before any burning. Never leave a campfire unattended.
